Created in China, Kim Chan fled China in 1928 along with his dad Lem and two older sisters. Settling 1st in Rhode Isle, then in NY, Kim remaining his family members after his dad caught him laying about a day spent in the cinema. Confronted with an ultimatum, Kim remaining for years like a day laborer, sometimes homeless, regularly sleeping on vermin-infested ironing planks. However when he had not been laboring in laundries and restaurants, Kim Chan sought are an acting professional in film, tv, and the theatre. Many roles had been small, frequently reflecting racial stereotypes – casting like a Japanese soldier was common in the 1940s. Chan’s big break arrived just in 1983 along with his comedic switch as Jonno, the butler towards the late night chat show sponsor Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis) in Martin Scorsese’s _The Ruler of Humor (1983)_. Since that time he has made an appearance in numerous assignments, seemingly never seeking for work.
