Kyle Balda continues to be functioning professionally in feature computer animation for days gone by 15 years, especially with Pixar Animation Studios and Industrial Light & Magic. He started his career learning traditional animation on the California Institute from the Arts in 1991, and continuing his teaching during summer time internships with Lucas Arts and Pacific Data Pictures. In 1993 Balda became a member of the team of Industrial Light & Magic where he participated in such movies as The Flintstones (1994), The Face mask (1994), Mars Episodes! (1996) so that as supervising animator on Jumanji (1995). After animating on Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners (1996) at Weta Digital in New Zealand, Kyle came back to California to just work at Pixar as an animator on the Bug’s Existence (1998) and Monsters, Inc. (2001) so that as directing animator of Plaything Tale 2 (1999). Presently surviving in Paris, Kyle continues to be conducting animation workshops at film-schools and production studios worldwide going back six years. Aswell as leading a 3D computer animation workshop at Richard Williams 2002 Masterclass, Kyle offers frequently lectured at Les Gobelins in Paris, The Computer animation Workshop of Denmark , Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttembergand as well as the Artwork Academy of SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. Kyle continues to remain heavily involved with animation creation as both movie director and animation movie director/specialist at several Western and Asian studios. Latest credits include design supervisor for Despicable Me (2010) and co-director from the Lorax (2012).
