A son of Korean immigrants, Chung was raised on a little farm in rural Arkansas and attended Yale University or college, majoring in Ecology. During his older year, Chung slipped his programs for medical college and considered filmmaking. He examined film on the School of Utah, gaining his MFA in 2004. Chung’s initial film, Munyurangabo, premiered on the 2007 Cannes Film Celebration to great acclaim. Range known as the film “an amazing and completely masterful debut;” American critic Roger Ebert known as it “a lovely and effective film – a masterpiece.” His second film, Lucky Lifestyle, was developed on the Cinefondation on the Cannes Film Festival and premiered on the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival and 2010 Torino Film Festival. Chung resides in Brooklyn, NY along with his wife Valerie. In 2007, he partnered with regional filmmakers in Rwanda to generate Almond Tree Movies Rwanda, an effective film production firm and academy in Rwanda.
