Greek-born Alexis Mardas was a charismatic self-proclaimed inventor and consumer electronics wizard. During 1967 and 1968, The Beatles dropped under his spell and plouged precious Apple money into funding his wild and frequently mythical innovations – which generally ended up being hopeless failures or simply boxes of blinking coloured lights. On the elevation of his impact, he wanted to get them from the drab over-familiar environment of Abbey Street and build them a custom-made documenting studio room in the Apple offices.
