Mini Biography

Katrakis was created in Kissamos, Chania, Crete. He was the youngest from the five kids of the vendor Charalambos Katrakis vendor and his wife Irini. In 1919 the family moved to Athens, where Manos, who had minimal acting experience, 1st appeared in theatrical picture. He produced his debut aged simply 18 years, using the group “Youthful” at the job “To like.” His brio and capability enthralled the movie director Kostas Leloudas, therefore a year later on, in 1928, he performed the leading part in the silent film To lavaro tou ’21 (1929) (i.e. “The banner of 1821″). Among his remarkable film performances are included the ones from the title role in Marinos Kontaras (1948) by Yorgos Tzavellas, in Synoikia to Oneiro (1961) by Alekos Alexandrakis, in Electra (1962) by Mihalis Kakogiannis, and in Enas delikanis (1963) by Manolis Scouloudis. Granted in the International Event of SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, for for his interpretation as Creon in Antigoni (1961) by Yorgos Tzavellas, and in the Thessaloniki Film Event for his overall performance in Synoikia to Oneiro (1961).” He also participated in a huge selection of events where in fact the readings of Greek poetry and books with his exclusive voice, continued to be classics. He died soon after completing the filming of Taxidi sta Kythira (1984) of the fantastic movie director Theodoros Angelopoulos.
