In 1931, a one-day effort by Marilyn Knowlden’s attorney father resulted in an interview, a next-day display screen test and a big part for four-year-old Marilyn in another of the first “talkies”, Women Like Once (1931). A ten-year film career implemented, where she performed the girl of such superstars as Claudette Colbert, Katharine Hepburn, Allan Jones and Norma Shearer. She appeared in a few from the screen’s great classics, including Angels with Dirty Faces (1938), David Copperfield (1935) and Les Misérables (1935), where she played the kid Cosette. She made an appearance in six movies nominated from the Academy for Greatest Production of the entire year and performed with such recognized stars as Fredric March, Charles Laughton, Tyrone Power, Greta Garbo and Bette Davis.
