Originally a schoolteacher, Mary Maurice caught the acting bug and joined the Pittsburgh (PA) Stock Company in 1868. Following a very long and recognized stage profession she authorized with Vitagraph and produced her film debut in 1909. She made an appearance in nearly 150 movies for the business, and played moms or grandmothers in therefore most of them that she got the nickname “Grand Aged Lady from the Movies”. She remained with Vitagraph until soon before her loss of life in 1918.
