Daughter of Western Stage cadet William Whedbee Kirkland, Tyler’s dad fought using the South within the Civil Battle and served while a second Lieutenant within the U.S. Sea Corps for five years. Tyler started acting at age 16 and caused Charles Frohman and William Faversham for several years in musical humor, producing her debut in ‘The Personal Secretary.’ She was an extremely well-known comedienne and celebrity using the Madison Square Business from 1884 to 1885. Wedded to acting professional Donald MacLean Shepherd, they made an appearance on stage in several Shakespearean productions, including ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ Many of the most prominent critics in the united states stated that Tyler’s ‘Juliet’ was the very best they’d noticed on stage.
