This corpulent, balding character actor was a ubiquitous presence in German-speaking films for nearly half of a century. Therefore much so, a modern critic described him as ‘the ruler from the helping assignments’. A baker’s kid, Sima had initially aspired to become article writer. When this in some way didn’t materialise, he continued to study play at Vienna Conservatory. His initial theatrical engagement in 1919 had taken him towards the Deutsche Movie theater in Prague.
