Pauline Collins, OBE, found prominence with portraying Sarah Moffat in BBC’s Upstairs, Downstairs (1971) and its own spin-off Thomas and Sarah (1979) through the 1970s. After having performed the title-role in the play “Shirley Valentine” that she gained Laurence Olivier, Tony, and Theatre Desk honours, she reprised the part in its film version Shirley Valentine (1989), earning a BAFTA and garnering Academy Honor and Golden World nominations.
