Boogie-woogie pianist Pete Johnson was created in Kansas Town, MO, in 1904. He was referred to as among the greats of this genre, along with Albert Ammons and Meade ‘Lux’ Lewis. He frequently teamed with blues vocalist Big Joe Turner and their concert shows in the past due 1930s helped to popularize “boogie-woogie” with the general public.
