Gillian Arnold was created to theatrical parents Dickie and Mitzi, midgets who had an effective career performing a cabaret/vaudeville act. Theater is at Gillian’s bloodstream, and she became a Windmill woman, performing in the famous Windmill Theater in Soho, when still in her teenagers. She first made an appearance nude aged 15. She changed her name to Danee Arnold, and had mixed fortunes mainly because an actress, singer and TV presenter in the 1960s. She transformed her name to Polly Perkins as the 60s shifted, so that as her career advanced. Polly moved to Spain, where she still lives. Her most widely known overall performance was as Trish Valentine, washed-up nightclub vocalist, in the BBC’s cruelly under-rated and shortlived Spanish cleaning soap Eldorado (1992), in the middle-90s.
