Powell St. John’s music legacy started in the first 60’s carrying out at regional venues in Austin, TX. He was an associate from the Waller Creek Males, a folk blues trio with fellow music artists Lanny Wiggins and a Janis Joplin. Attracted to the hypnotic power of rock and roll n’ move, he created his first rock-band, St. John as well as the Conqueroo. Tommy Hall, electrical jug participant, lyricist and originator from the 13th Flooring Elevators appealed to Powell for materials. Powell had written six songs on the initial two albums, including “YOU DO NOT Find out”, “Monkey Isle”, “Kingdom of Heaven”, “Consider that Young lady” and “Glide Machine”. Its discharge was celebrated by the end of the Ear record shop in Austin, TX and Streetlight Information in San Jose, CA. He also made an appearance at KPFA and Austin’s KUT Radio.
