In 1977 Rachid Nougmanov graduated from an architectural institute. In 1984 he moved into the VGIK Moscow Film Institute. His 1st feature The Needle (1988) initiated that which was to be in cinematic background: the ‘Kazakh New Influx’. Claiming reputation abroad at celebrations including Berlin, Toronto and Sundance, the film got First Reward at Nuremberg and premiered in the USSR with 1,000 images in blood flow (the ensuing boxoffice quantity – over 30 million admissions). The film’s celebrity, Victor Tsoi, was voted Greatest Actor of the entire year 1989 from the nationwide press. From 1989 to 1992, Nougmanov offered as President from the Union of Kazakh Filmmakers.
