Robert Hegyes was created in Perth Amboy, NJ, for an Hungarian-American dad, Stephen, and an Italian-American mom, Marie Dominica (Cocozza). He’s the eldest of their kids. Others are: Tag Hegyes, MD – Billings, Montana, Ms. Stephanie Hegyes – Princeton, NJ, and Ms. Elizabeth Cocozza – LA, California. Robert began monitoring performing in earnest in Metuchen SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL under the path of Dr. Barton Shepard, Ph.D, in the mid-1960s. He was recognized into the Movie theater Plan at Rown School of NJ (previously Glassboro State University) and, in the first 1970s, graduated using a BA in Movie theater & Supplementary Education. Hegyes after that ventured into NEW YORK to apply his trade, instantly taking up using the “Greenwich Community Children’s Repertory Businesses”, “Movie theater within a Trunk”, and “The NYC Children’s Puppet Outfit”. Promptly Robert installed along with his third Greenwhich Community troupe, “Jack port LaRumpa’s Traveling Drum & Kazoo Music group”, carrying out improvisational anti-war humor in Washington Square as well as the Provincetown Playhouse. Within a year of graduating from Rowan, Hegyes was cast to co-star in the Manhattan Theatre Club Emsmble’s highly-acclaimed drama, “Naomi Court”, which starred another young actor, Brad Davis (of Midnight Express (1978)). After completing that effective engagement Robert was tapped to co-star for Tony Award-winning acting professional/movie director Len Cariou, JUST A LITTLE Night time Music (1977) & Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Road (1982), in the Broadway theatre, “Don’t Call Back again”, starring Arlene Francis in the Helen Hayes Theatre. It was through the run of this Broadway theatre that he was solid by producer Wayne Komack to celebrity in the award-winning humor series, Welcome Back again, Kotter (1975) and, at age twenty-five, became among the show’s directors. Robert has guest-starred in more than 30 episodic series, including Sunday Evening Live (1975) with web host Quentin Tarantino, Medical diagnosis Murder (1993) with Dick Truck Dyke as well as the Drew Carey Present (1995). He provides starred in the award-nominated “Passat” industrial, “The Run after”, for movie director Kinka Usher and in the feature movies, Honeymoon Resort (2004) contrary Jane Kaczmarek, Underground Aces (1981) with Melanie Griffith, Bob Roberts (1992) for movie director Tim Robbins, Purpose (2002) starring Mia Farrow, and Club Hopping (2000) alongside Kevin Nealon.
