Mini Biography
Rocky Marciano was the only real undefeated boxing champion in virtually any weight division (until Joe Calzaghe retired 46-0 in ’09 2009). By the end of his profession he was 49-0, with 43 of his victories arriving by knockouts. Rocky produced his boxing debut in 1947 at age 24 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, by knocking out Lee Epperson in the 3rd circular. He continued to battle such legends as Joe Louis and Shirt Joe Walcott. On Sept 23, 1952, in Philadelphia, Marciano KO’d Walcott within the 13th circular to earn the Heavyweight Tournament of the Globe. He fought his last boxing match on Sept 21, 1955, knocking out “The Mongoose” Archie Moore within the ninth circular at Yankee Stadium. He announced his pension on Apr 27, 1956. On August 31st, 1969–the eve of his 46th birthday – Marciano was wiped out in an aircraft crash. Although he’s been eliminated a lot more than 30 years, he’s still revered today among the best fighters in the activity.
