Sandy Helberg was created in Frankfurt, Germany, was raised in Toledo, Ohio. He transferred to NY where he examined acting on the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute with John and Lee Strasberg and a nearby Playhouse with Sanford Meisner. Sandy after that continued to co-create the improvisational group, The Downtown Express, that performed the Bitter End, the Improv, and acquired a home entertainment in Greenwich Community, where they do performed nearly every evening. When arriving in LA, Sandy became among the original person in the Groundlings.
