Vee Lawnhurst was a virtuoso pop pianist, a radio pioneer, and made information and many piano rolls before she tried her hands at writing well-known music. Although she might have been unacquainted with it, she distributed her birthday using the “Ruler of Ragtime,” Scott Joplin (1868-1917). She frequently performed outstanding duets with various other pianists, notably Constance Mering and Muriel Pollack. Despite her promises of timidity, she also sang very well on information and radio. Following the loss of life of her lyric-writing partner, Roy Turk, she produced a group with Tot Seymour, and their publisher (Famous Music) marketed them as “the initial successful group of girl melody writers in well-known music background.” 1935 was Seymour & Lawnhurst’s greatest year. Being a “tempo” pianist, Lawnhurst acquired a style proclaimed by its harmonic and rhythmic invention, fluidity and delicacy. Web publishers stated that she was such an excellent demonstrator of her music, everything she performed sounded absolutely rhapsodic — even though the songs weren’t up to former standards! She steadily stopped performing in public areas, preferring to create music, and finally vanished from the general public eye, savoring her pension in her Manhattan house with her Mason & Hamlin piano and content memories. Her preferred melody was Johnny Mercer and David Raksin’s “Laura.”
